Mustang clubs around the world are planning celebrations for this, the 50th consecutive year of production for the pony car. Ford created a special logo just for merchandise like shirts, hats and jackets (but not for the cars).

To finish first, first you must finish

The 1980 Rondeau M378 was positively crude by the standards of the top cars running at Le Mans today. The visual differences are also quite striking. Up top, the Rondeau has a huge roof that looks like it would quite roomy compared to the tiny cockpits of todays machines like the Audi R18 and Toyota TS030.

The other huge difference is the front tires. The Rondeau had the tiny front tires that were also typical of the formula one cars of the era. In recent years, LMP1 cars have switched to using the same size wheels and tires on the front and rear of the car.

The Privately Designed Car That Beat Porsche At Le Mans
In 1980, a tiny French team’s boss sat into the car he designed himself and pushed the pedal to the floor as long as he could so his co-driver could finish the 24 Hours Of Le Mans two laps ahead of Po…

* +TechShop is a pretty amazing company*

Whether you are a hobbyist that just wants access to a great array of tools at an affordable price or a small scale manufacturer. Last year when I was working on a story about the opening of TechShop Detroit, I met a luthier that was actually doing his business out of TechShop. Anyone that wants to create stuff or just learn should check out TechShop.

America's most important startup?

This is a really long video. More than an hour. Why is it so long? Because Techshop could be the most important startup to United States' manufacturing industry. Here we spend an hour with CEO Mark Hatch.

What is Techshop? It's a place where you can make things. We get an in-depth tour. You can learn more here: http://www.techshop.ws

In this video you'll also meet several startups that call Techshop home.

This is why Techshop is so important to our economy. It's providing a place for many other startups to get going, meet cofounders, and make the things that need to be made to startup companies.

Don't miss the discussion of 3D printing at about 36 minutes into the video: America's most important startup? as we visit one of the startups located at Techshop San Francisco, Type A Machines. Learn more about this 3D Printing Startup at http://typeamachines.com

At about 45 minutes into the video we meet SF Made, a non-profit that is helping the growing manufacturing sector in San Francisco America's most important startup?

At 54 minutes into the tour we meet ProtoTank, a startup that makes unique signs. America's most important startup?

At 62 minutes into it, the founder of ProtoTank shows me a cool wearable LED system he built. America's most important startup?

With the last two Chinese suitors apparently turning their backs on +Fisker Automotive, is there a future of the startup?

Fisker Automotive is probably toast
Fisker Automotive built a beautiful car that’s been fraught with problems, has seen the company founder resign, and now has potential suitors walking away. None of this bodes well for the automaker.

The more we learn, the more we realize how little we actually know 1

Standardized tests are a fundamentally flawed way of evaluating anything on a general level. Whether we are testing kids in schools, rats or chimps, we must always remember that standard tests are only as good as the questions we ask.

Intelligence and cognition are are NOT on a linear scale from stupid to genius. The continuum is multi-dimensional and we must acknowledge that as we evaluate the capabilities of all species including humans. Humans have evolved some unique capabilities in terms of communication and manual dexterity, but other species have their own capabilities that are neither better or worse, just different.

We have a couple of hens out in our yard, and it doesn't take much observation time to realize that they are a lot smarter than most people give them credit for. Similarly, just because a person may be autistic or dyslexic and they may have difficulty doing well on a test, but they may have capabilities that far exceed the average in certain areas. Not better or worse just different.

Standard tests are fine for evaluating the skills needed for a specific task, but they should never be the sole criteria for any decision.

We need to find a middle ground on how to compete

+HTC has unfortunately demonstrated that building great phones simply isn't enough to succeed. You have to have some great marketing too. Apple on the other hand apparently uses strong-arm tactics to strengthen their position against challengers whether its in phones or e-books. Look at the commitments that Sprint had to make in order to get the iPhone and now they are struggling to sell all of those phones.
