Reshared post from +Motor Trend Magazine

What do you do when you have Ford's new 650 horsepower Shelby GT500 but can't reveal driving impressions until next week? We take to the streets of Detroit to stage an impromptu car chase between the GT500 and the 2013 Ford Police Interceptor and 2012 Dodge Charger Pursuit police cars.

It's nice to see Detroit land near the top of a best list for a change 2

When I first moved to the Detroit area full time in 1990 and had to fly out Metro airport on a regular basis it was a horrible experience. The terminals were dark, cramped and hard to get around and you could always count on a minimum 30 minute wait for bags when landing.

When the new midfield terminal opened a decade ago, DTW immediately jumped from the worst to one of the best airports I've ever flown out of, a process that was completed when the new north terminal in 2008. Aside from the whole TSA/security thing, it's a great airport. Now if there was a quick train that could get me from Ypsilanti to the airport I'd be all set.

We should be very wary of anything Chris Dodd says 1

Until we see an actual change in the way Hollywood does business, this is likely little more than a PR tactic to change the messaging rather than a real change of heart.

Let's get something perfectly clear 1

The only thing that bogs down +Motorola's Android phones is Motorola's blur interface. I've been running my Droid 3 with a series of ICS builds for more than 2 months and it has consistently performed better than it ever did with the stock Gingerbread with Blur.

As I've suggested with +Samsung Mobile, Motorola should offer a stock ICS build for its phones that users can opt to use if they want or stick with the original Blur'ed Gingerbread build.

Some tips for theists: 2

Reshared post from +Atheist

Some tips for theists:

1) We don't believe in Hell, so you can nix the threats.
2) Saying "God Bless" doesn't make you compassionate, especially after #1.
3) We've read your bible. Amateur work with serious continuity problems.
4) Don't tell atheists we're immoral when we comprise 0.4% of U.S. prisons.
5) We think its cute when you point at other faiths and say, "That's so dumb!"
6) Frightening kids with threats of eternal agony is child abuse.
7) Think of what your offering of 10% might have done elsewhere.
8) God has his divine hand on your life? Then why spend so much on insurance?
9) Putting your 50-year-old pastor in ripped jeans does not make him "edgy."
10) Stay off our porches, out of our science books and away from politics.

That's all for now. Thanks.

With CBS boss Les Moonves indicating that his network is planning to demand $4 million… 1

With CBS boss Les Moonves indicating that his network is planning to demand $4 million for a 30 second Super Bowl ad slot (up from $3.5 million this year) it's no wonder that +General Motors has opted to say "thanks but no thanks."

I'm guessing that GM will actually make a series of Super Bowl style ads just as they did this year and in years past. The only difference is that they won't actually run during the broadcast of the game.

If you think back to the week leading up to the game this year and the last several years, most of the big ads had already been posted on Youtube and most people had seen them long before kickoff. There were almost no surprises during the game. GM's Super Bowl ads will get just as much attention during the pre-game period and without costing them a penny.

If you've been considering a buying a new hybrid vehicle you've no doubt… 3

If you've been considering a buying a new hybrid vehicle you've no doubt noticed that there is a significant price premium associated with adding electric drive motors and big batteries to a vehicle. You will almost certainly have lowering operating costs thanks to the regenerative braking and electric assist, but several things factor into how long it will take for those savings to overcome that initial premium.

Over at FuelEconomy.gov they've put together a nice little calculator that estimates the payback period of a hybrid compared to its conventional alternative. Hybrids get most of their benefit from recapturing kinetic energy during braking, saving it in the battery and then returning it to propulsion through the motor. If you do most of your driving on the highway, the benefits of a hybrid will be limited, but if most of your commuting is stop and go urban traffic, the payback will be a lot quicker so make sure you adjust the slider for how much city driving you do.

In general for the average driver that does about 15,000 miles and 55% in the city, the payback for most hybrids is about 4-5 years.
