The only thing that bogs down's Android phones is Motorola's blur interface. I've been running my Droid 3 with a series of ICS builds for more than 2 months and it has consistently performed better than it ever did with the stock Gingerbread with Blur.
As I've suggested with, Motorola should offer a stock ICS build for its phones that users can opt to use if they want or stick with the original Blur'ed Gingerbread build.
