Costco announced record profits today, averaging $10,000 in profit per employee compared to $7,400 at Walmart.
The secret to Costco's success is paying employees well, providing benefits, and giving them an opportunity to unionize. http://huff.to/XoTt48post via fb.me/usauncut

Fisker also claimed that the company had 1,300 pre-orders for the Karma and planned to build 15,000 a year. During the 18 months or so that Fisker was building cars until suspending production as a result of the A123 bankruptcy, they shipped about 2,000 cars and at this point it's not clear if any more will ever get built.

Gade is a race engineer with Audi Sport Team Joest and is in part responsible for leading her team to victory in the last two 24 Hours of Le Mans. Particularly endurance racing, the race engineers play a major role in plotting the strategy for when pit, when to run hard and when to change tires among other things. Gade plays a prominent part in Truth in 24 II, the film that documents the 2011 victory http://truthin24.com/film/download and it's well worth a watch. The film is a free download.

It's the same amount of daylight arbitrarily moved about… I'm sure it made sense at some point, but now it's just annoying… like pennies.

There has been no shortage of despicable and anti-democratic actions by both the Obama and the previous Bush administrations but it's good to see the DOJ at least come out to protect the constitution in this instance. Now if only they would defend the right to photograph buildings and anything else in public places.
US DOJ defends citizens’ right to photograph police
The US Department of Justice has filed a brief in a Maryland court case defending citizens’ rights to photograph and record police officers in the course of their duty. The DOJ, in fact, goes…

Just to be clear though, despite what the lede of this New York Times article says, this engine block was NOT checked in and carried onto the plane. The photo shown was part of a social media stunt to demonstrate how compact and light the engine is. It never went past the security checkpoint.

Aside from that, getting so much power and torque out of such a tiny engine that also meets emissions standards and gets great fuel economy is a pretty impressive feat of engineering.
Packing 123 Horsepower
With the help of turbos, automakers are producing powerful, but fuel efficient 3-cylinder engines. A Ford triple, as the engines are called, is small enough to fit into a suitcase.
