It's long past time to demilitarize the police

The buildup in the wake in the wake of 9/11 let local police forces all over the country acquire military equipment designed for war fighting that they have no business possessing. When police that traditionally have been undertrained and prone to abuse the power they have suddenly get over-armed, it is inevitable that they will do something stupid like this.

The police chief in Ferguson needs to be removed immediately and all of these weapons should be taken away. ?

It’s time to take the situation out of the hands of the local cops.

Greg Lambert is wrong and so is former Michigan governor John Engler especially when you consider that charter schools are not delivering appreciably better results than traditional public schools.?
