2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4Matic - 3 of 28One of the downsides of having a seemingly ever-expanding lineup of vehicles with arbitrary alphanumeric badges is that over time, customers will become completely confused about what those nonsensical names mean and where models fit into the lineup. This problem has afflicted every brand using this kind of naming strategy including Mercedes-Benz. 2015 saw the Stuttgart marketing mavens completely realign their model badging including compact GLK SUV which has now been redesigned and renamed the GLC. I was always a fan of the Lotus Esprit, especially the later series that had been reworked by Peter Stevens. I count myself fortunate to have been able to work with Lotus engineers at the beginning of my career on the ABS for the M100 Elan and the X180R Esprit and would love to someday drive one again. It was certainly a flawed car as Roger Becker explained to me in some detail as I rode shotgun with him around the Milford proving ground but it had character.
