Anyone receiving tax dollars to provide services such as education or corrections should be required to be absolutely transparent about how that money is spent
Greg Lambert, an NHA representative, spelled out the company’s position to the board of the Detroit Enterprise Academy in 2010 when several members were demanding more transparency.
“Mr. Lambert stated that the public dollars became private when they were received by NHA. He further indicated that because NHA is a private company, the information need not be disclosed.”
Greg Lambert is wrong and so is former Michigan governor John Engler especially when you consider that charter schools are not delivering appreciably better results than traditional public schools.?
Two regional stories could have national implications for the education reform movement
One of two excellent rulings against tech companies yesterday
Companies need to be hit hard to prevent outrageous behavior like anti-poaching collusion. They want a "free market" that applies to only their side of the transaction. Truly free markets must be free for buyers (employers in this case) and sellers (employees). Both sides must be able to transact with whoever is willing to take the best price. ?
SAN FRANCISCO — There is “ample evidence” that Silicon Valley was engaged in “an overarching conspiracy” against its own employees, a federal judge said on Friday, and it should either pay dearly or have its secrets exposed at trial. Judge Lucy H. Koh of the United States District Court in San …
Thunderbirds?
I recently learned of the looney 11 rule for photographing the moon and decided to try it out this evening
You set the aperture to f11 and the shutter speed to the reciprocal of the ISO. I managed to shoot this handheld at f11 and 1/400 with my 70-300mm on my Canon Rebel T1i and it worked out pretty well.?
The photo here is interesting for two reasons, the bird and number of aircraft
The image that shows a vulture seemingly in close proximity to the Thunderbirds F-16s actually has four aircraft despite looking like only two. It was the last in a sequence with the four planes in a diamond formation with the two closer planes in near perfect alignment with the farther pair as they passed below the bird. ?
G+ auto-awesome of the Thunderbirds?
On my way home from my final day at the old job, a quartet of F-16s in a tight diamond formation flew across I-94 in front of me
It was the Thunderbirds practicing for tomorrow's Thunder over Michigan airshow at Willow Run airport in Ypsilanti, MI. I got off at the next exit and swung around to the north side of the airport to take some photos. Here are all six planes in delta formation
Something definitely worthy of serious consideration. Sadly, there are no serious leaders in the current American political environment?
Almost every country has a minimum wage. It’s time to consider the opposite policy — a maximum wage.
If you live in the city of Ypsilanti, MI, go out tomorrow and vote for Amanda Edmonds for mayor
Amanda loves the community and is an incredibly hard worker. She built Growing Hope from scratch and I'm sure she will do amazing things for the city.?
