More than a decade into the charter school experiment began in Michigan, I think it's safe to say it has been a failure

In a state where we struggle to provide adequate funding for schools, having more than 60% of charter schools run by for-profit companies that skim off the top for their earnings is insane. Worse still, for all of the supposed innovation, these schools have done nothing to improve student performance and in fact one-quarter of charters are among the worst performing schools in the state.
