Y'know, when grunge took over rock radio all of the hair metal guitarists joined country bands. No, seriously, at some point Def Leppard became mainstays of the CMAs, the guy from Dangerous Toys had a huge following and Winger's guitarist became a first call country sideman.
What's wrong with modern country is that it incorporated all of the stupidity of 80's metal (also Mutt Lang) and let that replace every ounce of earnestness it had.
