Right before the reworked SN95 Mustang debuted in 1994, Ford reintroduced the Cobra name for the first time in a decade. The base version added 15 hp to the classic 302 V8, bigger disk brakes front and rear and a strut-tower brace to stiffen the front end.
At the same time they introduced the limited edition track-oriented Cobra R, with even beefier suspension, a rear seat delete option and no air conditioning or radio.
