If I used an iOS device I wouldn't even consider using iCloud 1


I use a MacBook pro and I've used Android phones for 3 years. Frankly apple is utterly clueless about anything online and doesn't really seem to care. I've never lost data with google, famous last words of course. However even if I mess up something myself Google keeps backups that I can restore. My Mac data gets synced with Google too and I also have local backups

    The first time someone described MobileMe to me, I said, "Oh, it's just like the cloud syncing of contacts/email/calendar/etc. on my G1!"  Then my friend told me that it was a great bargain at only $99/year, and my eyes nearly fell out.

    It's rather incredible that a company with as much success in consumer electronics as Apple just can't seem to figure out cloud services.  They could just hire a team of savvy Android users to tell them how things ought to work, but they seem hell-bent on forcing their own "solutions" on their users.
