Back in the 40s, 50s and even into the 60s, many planes and helicopters would come and go within a decade or at most two. The Boeing Chinook has now been in service for 50 years and the B-52 bomber has been going strong for 57 years now with no end in sight. The F16 has been going since 1978 and the F15 went into service in 1976 and both are still in production today.

The B-52 is the boss here. The Chinook and F-16 are old designs, the B-52 is an old plane. Whereas the Chinook and the F-16 are being built in new versions, every B-52 today is the same that came out of the factory decades ago! So rock on, BUFF! 🙂

Just one, although we did have to stop for fuel at a NATO base in Belgium. Ran into thunderstroms and hail on way out — a very rough ride. Many fellow soldiers got airsick. Pilot and co-pilot inspected aircraft, rotors while refueling, debated going forward or turning back. We moved on without further incident.
