Eight months before I ever got to drive the Cadillac CTS-V, I got the low-down on its powerplant, the marvelous LSA V8. A close cousin of the LS9 in the Corvette ZR1, the LSA has since found a second home under the hood of the Camaro ZL1. For an engine that traces it's architectural roots back to the original small block that debuted in 1955, it's quite remarkable what engineers have been able to achieve with modern electronic control systems and fuel injection.
Long live the V8!

I just love the noise it makes…..
+David McKenna There is nothing quite like the pulse and sound of a big displacement V8 engine. Done right, it truly feels like it's alive.
Sounds like the V8 will become obslete if the price of fuel doesn't shrink,or they make it run on water.
fuel was always expensive here…lol
+Ray Wert and I drove a CTS-V Coupe in the Bullrun a few summers back. Although I'm usually more about raw elemental fun (Miata) or refinement (911), there's definitely something to be said for a car literally bulging with power. Putting my foot on the floor on an open stretch of road was… let's call it an eye-opening experience.
Although I did have an Alfa 166 twin spark V6,,,very whiney noise but fantastic drive……
Had a 57 Buick Special 364 ci V8 with a oil bath air cleaner 3 speed fisher body as big and over built as it was ,it sounded smooth and quiet ,but got better with a pvc added on . Low rumble and great ride.
