This is not new, not by a long shot. The climate's been changing for millions of years and it's survived things that we can only dream of accomplishing (not that we'd want to). Nothing to see here. Move along.
I've always said that the earth doesn't need saving, it will take care of itself. This planet will be here for billions more years after we are all extinct. Even humans as a species will survive whatever comes along for a while (short of perhaps a giant asteroid or comet hitting the planet, but that's a whole different story. It's current human society that is danger and there are many days when I feel that putting an end to that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
Weather does not equal climate change.
