I'm sure it's a complete coincidence that the last three CEO's (Jack Valenti, Dan Glickman and now Chris Dodd) of the MPAA all went directly from government to the Hollywood lobbying group that has done so much to destroy the concept of the public domain.

If you wanted to really hit home, have your own blackout. Don't rent a movie, don't use cable TV. Don't buy anything from the store, don't buy gasoline, don't use Redbox, that's what I am doing tomorrow…

If you are corporate, I am not going to use you tomorrow!

+Dominique Savoie don't forget that Dodd comes from a "proud" tradition of MPAA bosses that say ridiculous things when their business model seems like it might be threatened by change. Recall the 1982 testimony to a congressional comittee on the subject of the video cassette recorder

"'I say to you that the VCR is to the American film producer and the American public as the Boston strangler is to the woman home alone.' Jack Valenti said this in 1982 in testimony to the House ofRepresentatives on why the VCR should be illegal. He also calledthe VCR an "avalanche" and a "tidal wave", and said it would makethe film industry "bleed and bleed and hemorrhage".
