Samsung just doesn't seem to get it do they? Just provide a vanilla build of Ice Cream Sandwich for all Galaxy S phones that is available as an optional upgrade for anyone that wants it. Don't waste time and resources trying to fit in pieces of Touchwiz or adapting parts of ICS to Gingerbread. Keep it simple and let the Touchwiz fans stick with GB.

Samsung isn't making any money on the original Galaxy S. Just like Apple has abandoned older versions of the iPhone and not upgrading them to IOS 5.

In buying a phone or tablet, you should assume the features on the phone will change very little after you purchase it and that includes OS upgrades.

+Steve Pierce I know manufacturers like samsung don't make money on phones that are already sold. But at least so far to their credit apple has continued to provide updates to phones as long as they have the horsepower to run them although sometimes with a reduced feature set. This is the sort of thing that builds brand loyalty and long term profits. If samsung is going to copy apple this would be the way to do it.

The galaxy s has basically the same hardware as the Nexus S which is getting ICS and my son's fascinate is already running an ICS rom so it clearly works
