However, before it launched as a 1979 model it went through many design iterations including one incredibly awesome woodie-side shooting brake. Imagine one of these with a high-output 302 as the ultimate surf-wagon!

This woody wagon is the greatest Fox-body Mustang that never was
In production for 14 years, the Fox-body, third-generation Ford Mustang was ubiquitous, and it’s the reason “5.0” means something to a generation of gearheads. But the Fox’s road to showrooms was long, winding, and a little weird. Here’s the story.

This video of a 1:8 +Ford Motor Company Shelby GT500 #Mustang is pretty amazing (just make sure to mute it since the soundtrack is really bad). With everything from functional disk brakes, to moving pistons in the V8 and even a differential, this clearly took a lot of time to build.

The Ford Mustang II almost looked downright radical
The Ford Mustang II gets no respect, but it has an interesting design backstory. It was to be based on the big ’71–’73 Mustang platform, but then Ford went small. Check out some of the wild designs that didn’t make it.

Mustang II Forty Years Later | Ford Media Center
Forty years ago this fall, a completely redesigned second-generation Ford Mustang hit the road. Mustang II was a radical departure from the 1973 model it replaced – 19 inches shorter, 500 pounds lighter and, for the first time, not available with a V8 engine.

Did you know that the first known retail customer for the  #Mustang  was a young Chicago schoolteacher?

Gail Wise walked into a Chicago +Ford Motor Company dealership on April 15, 1964 and later that day drove off with a brand new Mustang convertible? What's so special about that you might ask? Gail got her car two days before Mustang was supposed to be on sale and hers is the first known retail sale of a production Mustang.

The best part is that nearly 50 years later, Gail and her husband still own that car. ?

First Ford Mustang owner still has the keys 49 years after trading a Chevy
The launch of an iconic sports car in today’s world often comes with a bidding war to be first in line; witness NASCAR team owner and car dealer Rick Hendrick paying $1 million last year for the rights to own the first 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray. But when the Ford Mustang was launched in 1964, […]
