The WSJ is reporting that GM will show a new 200-mile EV on Monday along with the 2016 Volt

Here's my thoughts on why I think it would be foolish for +General Motors to unveil the +Chevrolet Bolt alongside the second-generation Volt ?

A very cool story about one of the best race cars of the 1990s

Before Ross Brawn became a legend creating championship winning F1 cars for Michael Schumacher, he worked for Tom Walkinshaw where he led the development of the Jaguar XJR-14/Mazda MXR-01/TWR-Porsche WSC95.?

The car above is Mazda’s last prototype to race at Le Mans. Only it wasn’t just a Mazda. It was a Jaguar. Only it wasn’t a Jaguar, it was a TWR. Only it wasn’t a TWR, it was a Porsche. This is the strange story of the orphan prototype that won Le Mans twice in a row and nobody seems to remember it existed.

Eight years ago today, the Chevy Volt concept was the subject of my first story to go really huge

Back then, Digg.com was still relevant and this was my first story to hit the top of the front page thanks in part to links from sites like DailyKos. As an engineer and a tech geek, I was hugely excited by what +Chevrolet was proposing with the E-Flex powertrain and thought this car had so much potential. Over the next four years I went on to write hundreds more articles on the development of the Volt and many other green vehicles that I compiled into an e-book.

This morning I'm heading out get an early look at the second-generation Volt before it gets a full public reveal next week at the Detroit Auto Show. Hopefully some of that original unrealized potential from eight years ago will come to fruition this time. ?

+Ford Motor Company will keep focusing on bringing advanced driver assist systems to a wider audience. I would guess that one of the German automakers will be first out of the gate with a vehicle capable of fully autonomous operation, but it will probably be in very low volumes. ?

Ford Motor Co. Chief Executive Officer Mark Fields said that an automaker probably will introduce a self- driving vehicle within half a decade, but it won’t be his company, which is focusing on less expensive features that assist in driving.

Being lazy can be expensive

If you are a +Comcast customer and you are still paying rental fees for a cable modem I strongly suggest you immediately order one of these and let Comcast pay if they want a wireless network. Personally, I have the Zoom 5341 and it works great.

I'm also getting everything aligned now so that we can just cancel our cable service entirely which I'll do in the next week or so. ?

It looks like Comcast customers are in for another price hike, this time not on programming charges but on the fees they pay to rent our broadband modems. Several Comcast customers told Ars Technica that their home internet gateway fees have risen from $8 to $10. Those prices reflect the new rates Comcast began setting for…

The more I consider the autonomous vehicle, the further out I think they will be?

According to Navigant Research’s report, Autonomous Vehicles, some limited self-driving vehicles will arrive by 2020, but widespread adoption of full-function autonomous vehicles won’t happen until…
