"Without the money, without the funding, it would have been very problematic," said Akerson. "At the risk of alienating a whole lot of potential customers, I would say the Obama administration did a good job."

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney and other critics have argued the bailout was unnecessary, and that the regular bankruptcy process would have made GM and Chrysler stronger companies.

"Would that have happened?" Reynolds asked.

"Not in my opinion," asked Akerson. "It would have been in bankruptcy for years and I think you could have written off this company, this industry and this country."

I take for granted Romney's dishonesty at this point, but the Jeep-to-China lie is so brazen that it almost literally takes my breath away. Even journalists, so timid in calling out other Romney lies, find this one beyond the pale.

We'll remember that next time Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and all those other underachieving southern states that get more in federal funding than they pay in taxes get struck by a natural disaster.

So I've had my RAZR Maxx HD for about 5 days now and I can say with conviction that the massive battery is amazing and Motorola Smart Actions rock. 

The built-in ability to set up sequences based on various triggers is very useful.  When I stick it in the car dock, it automatically turns on bluetooth, connects to my BT speaker, turns off wifi and turns up the volume. When I arrive home, my location is detected and BT is turned off and wifi comes on to connect to my home network. As I walk into the office, the tethering app is launched and ring volume is adjusted all without any user intervention. 

Very cool.
