Because state legislatures can gerrymander district boundaries, allowing them use congressional districts to apportion electoral college votes is utterly undemocratic

They can't win fairly at the ballot box, so they find every way they can to twist the system to their advantage.

Group Working To Reform Electoral College Condemns GOP’s ‘Indefensible’ Virginia Scheme
Think the Electoral College is an antiquated mess that forces candidates to appeal to a narrow slice of the population? So does FairVote, an advocacy group dedicated to ending the institution. But the…

There is no silver bullet solution that works for everyone 2

For some people, the controlled walled garden approach of Apple's iOS is the best option. I on the other hand prefer not to sacrifice freedom for security. After all, without freedom, do you really have any security?

Why the iOS-Android feud is so intense: It’s about core philosophy more than products
One of the things that’s often baffled me is how personally people take their decision to own either an iOS or an Android device. Just look at the comments section on any tech site (or don&#8…

This guy is seriously dedicated to top down driving 2

I've been seeing this guy in his +Honda S2000 at least once a week for more than 2 years and I'm pretty sure I've never seen him with the top up. I'm a firm believer that if you are going to drive a convertible it should be driven with the top down whenever it's not raining or snowing and if you are worried about your hair you should drive something else. However I'm pretty sure I would probably keep the top up at 70 mph when it's 15 deg F. More power to this guy

This is a prime example of why established politicians and their operatives can not be trusted with anything tech related

The leaders at Obama for America did exactly the right thing in bringing developers that would take advantage of open source tools to build an infrastructure for running the campaign.

However, just like mainstream media leaders that show no reluctance to sue individuals for sharing music files, while using the work of independent musicians with impunity, these political operatives are intent holding onto their advantage even if it costs them in the long run.

Sometimes you need an outsider with a fresh perspective to break through and solve a problem

The National Football League and football in general face an existential crisis right now. As players get bigger and stronger, people are becoming increasingly aware of the long-term health effects of repeated blows to the head. If something isn't done soon to reduce brain injuries to players, the game may fade away.

Bill Simpson has been a pioneer in the design of helmets for race drivers over the past several decades. Over the past two years he has turned his attention to protecting players on the gridiron. Unlike the typical football helmet approach of just spreading out the energy over the head, Simpson is working to actively reduce and dissipate the energy. His helmets weigh about half as much as traditional helmets and appear to provide better protection so far.  The story is definitely worth a read.
