* +Ford Motor Company engineers now using MakerBots *

Like other automakers, Ford has been using 3D printing technology since the early 90s. Now they are expanding beyond dedicated labs that produce large scale parts to distributing desktop +MakerBot replicators so design engineers can quickly produce prototype parts.

Personal computers and broadband were work tools before gaining wider adoption in consumer homes. Now, I wonder if 3D printers can make the leap from engineering and office tool to the next must-have …

If you're in real estate and you're thinking of getting head shots, do the world a favor and don't

But if you absolutely must, please invest in a really good, smart photographer and listen to their advice about what to do and more importantly what not to do.

I wouldn't argue with the selection of Honda's "The Cog" as the greatest car commercial of all time

Some years back, +Honda in the UK created a remarkable commercial for the then-new Accord. Titled "The Cog," the two minute film features one of the coolest Rube Goldberg machines ever made. The most amazing thing is that the 2003 ad uses no CGI and it was done in a single uninterrupted shot all the way through.

Of course getting that one shot was no trivial matter. It took more than six months to create including four months of engineering the sequence of moving car parts (all from the Accord). Once they had it all worked out, it still took 606 takes before the entire sequence worked perfectly all the way through. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/61487/best-car-adverts-ever

This WebRidesTV video is a commercial made by Honda to showcase the Honda Accord. It is a two minute

It looks like we’ve learned a bit more behind the Google Wallet block on Verizon Wireless today. There’s been a lot of talk lately about this “secure element.” Most of that …

Every time I see something like this I am reminded that humans are not necessarily so special

If people just stopped and spent a bit more time observing animal behavior, they would realize that many of the qualities that we ascribe solely to humanity are in fact not really so unique.

A spider that builds elaborate, fake spiders and hangs them in its web has been discovered in the Peruvian Amazon. Believed to be a new species in the genus Cyclosa, the arachnid crafts the larger spi…

Here's a great list of buzzwords that should be expunged from the language

Unfortunately I've had to deal with the overuse and misuse of buzzwords since long before I ever got into writing when I was still an engineer. I generally agree with everything on this list except for curate.

I think for many people curate may well just mean saving, but when done correctly, curation is much more. A great curator is also a great noise filter and sharer. Another word I'd love to see added to the list is another of those awful noun-verb transfers ideation. It's not a real word so let's not use it as one.

You have spoken. The word “synergize” leads our annual list of business buzzwords that PR, communications and business professionals would like to eradicate from the lexicon before the start of the……
