Google and Nvidia want to put Android in your car
The automotive connectivity platform wars are heating up as Google, chip maker Nvidia, and four automakers announced a collaboration to help bring Android into the car.
sigh
All I want is a standard API across all car manufacturers that will allow me to just use my phone. It already has everything that they are trying to replicate and, as an added bonus, it's my phone so the learning curve is nil.
I don't want Apple in my car or Android I want to run what I brung.
+George Jones +Ford Motor Company already has that API, it's called AppLink and they made it open source last year so any manufacturer can use it for free. All they have to do is add the code to their system and any app that works with AppLink (more than 60 at last count) can be controlled through that vehicle via voice. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CEwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fprojects.genivi.org%2Fsmartdevicelink%2F&ei=-ivLUo61OuPB2wXcxoG4Dg&usg=AFQjCNHBc2us2bUHzHLt1-b610O-1d-1Rg&sig2=ccA-Nk6GgiL2vrfHg9Ql4A&bvm=bv.58187178,d.b2I&cad=rjt
