However, before it launched as a 1979 model it went through many design iterations including one incredibly awesome woodie-side shooting brake. Imagine one of these with a high-output 302 as the ultimate surf-wagon!

In production for 14 years, the Fox-body, third-generation Ford Mustang was ubiquitous, and it’s the reason “5.0” means something to a generation of gearheads. But the Fox’s road to showrooms was long, winding, and a little weird. Here’s the story.

This video of a 1:8 +Ford Motor Company Shelby GT500 #Mustang is pretty amazing (just make sure to mute it since the soundtrack is really bad). With everything from functional disk brakes, to moving pistons in the V8 and even a differential, this clearly took a lot of time to build.

If you actually believe capital punishment is a good thing, why insist on it being clean and antiseptic?

Lethal injection is the euphemism of death penalty methods. It makes killing seem clean and devoid of controversy which it clearly is not. It's good to see drug makers finally backing away.

As drug companies back away from death row, who will fill the gap?
In 1998, Michael Yowell was convicted of killing his parents while trying to steal their money to buy drugs. After the killings, he was arrested and charged with murder. Since he lived in Texas, it…

Thankfully, none of the companies I have ever worked for have celebrated columbus day and its time for the federal government to repeal it

Fat Chance of that happening though

Whoa. Read this! You will never feel the same way about Columbus again.

I love the notion of Bartolome Day instead. Great work from The Oatmeal.

A note from the author: All of the information in this essay came from A People’s History of the United States, by Howard Zinn, and Lies My Teacher Told Me, by James W. Loewen, both of which uses primary sources such eyewitness accounts, journal entries, and letters from Christopher Columbus …

Yesterday +TOYOTA announced that they would be introducing several new safety systems in the next couple of years

Among these is a pre-collision system that automatically applies brakes and a pedestrian detection system that brakes and even steers around the person autonomously.

I actually got to drive much of this technology during a visit to Toyota's proving ground in Japan in 2010. At that time however, the pedestrian detection system only applied the brakes but didn't steer the car.

Bill Moyers calls it what it is

Politics: The Sabotage of Democracy
Bill Moyers cuts through the bullshit. Still looking for the complete transcript but here are some pithy quotes.

"Unable to abide by the results of democracy when they don't win, they turned on it."

Despite what they say, Obamacare is only one of their targets. Before they will allow the government to reopen, they demand employers be enabled to deny birth control coverage to female employees; they demand Obama cave on the Keystone pipeline; they demand the watchdogs over corporate pollution be muzzled and the big bad regulators of Wall Street sent home. Their ransom list goes on and on. The debt ceiling is next. They would have the government default on its obligations and responsibilities.

When the president refused to buckle to this extortion, they threw their tantrum. Like the die-hards of the racist South a century and a half ago, who would destroy the union before giving up their slaves, so would these people burn down the place, sink the ship of state, and sow economic chaos to get their way.

[…]

At least, let's name this for what it is: sabotage of the democratic process. Secession by another means.
