Anyone that suggests Apple should get into the car business is a fool that clearly has no understanding of the complexity of the business
+John Voelcker's suggestion that Ford would be a far better fit for Tesla makes a lot more sense although I doubt that will happen.
Should Apple Buy Tesla? Or Would Ford Be A Better Buyer?

GM should buy it and rename it Saturn.
Funny how people seem to think that Apple would be such a good electronics partner for Tesla — I'd bet that very few of those would even consider Microsoft (which ironically probably has a lot more experience in the drivetrain/telematics arena than Apple, having partnered with Ford for the Sync and McLaren for the standard F1 ECUs.)
Not that I'd advocate Microsoft buy Tesla either, of course. It does raise an interesting idea, though — if Ford did buy Tesla, it might have a side-effect of shutting the door on Apple's attempts to enter the marketplace via Tesla and handing it over to Microsoft.
The problem with Ford is Lincoln. That is to say, Ford in 2013 is showing itself to be spectacularly uninterested in playing in the high end luxury game. Even back in the days of the PAG they always seemed kind of half hearted. I don't know if Ford would be willing to put in the work to keep Tesla ahead of the curve.
Chrysler can buy it and rename it Edison.
I think it would be fun if Google bought Tesla. Partner that with their existing self-driving car fleet and you'd have an automotive force to be reckoned with. Also, I don't think Apple has the equivalent of Google X, where Tesla would slot in nicely.
