If something like the +HTC One had been available on +Verizon Wireless I might have bought one (or two) in recent months

When my daughter was up for an upgrade last summer, she opted for the Galaxy S3 but by the time I got my new phone in the fall I went for the +Motorola Mobility Razr Maxx HD and I'm glad I did. Last week my wife had no interest in the Samsung and opted for the superior battery life of the Razr HD over the Droid DNA.

In a lot of things, being the best generally leads to victory. Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the London Olympics? He wins the gold. A hosting company

The DeltaWing grows a lid and goes racing with the big boys

DeltaWing Racing showed off the next iteration of innovative new race car that debuted last year at Le Mans. The DeltaWing coupe now has a roof and the tub has been redesigned to put the driver in the middle instead of off to one side. Somehow it just doesn't look as cool with this bulbous looking top.

With the departure of Nissan, the team has now adopted a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four based on a Mazda engine and starting at the 12 Hours of Sebring this weekend, it will be running with the big boys in the LMP1 class. Should be fun to watch.

Crash test video shows why you shouldn't draft too close behind big trucks

This video from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety demonstrates that the vast majority of under-ride guards on truck trailers are totally inadequate to prevent severe injury or death. There are plenty of reasons not to follow too closely behind a tractor-trailer, but the risk of death tops the list.

Who would have thunk it? Make a healthy profit while paying living wages, providing benefits and allowing unions?

All I can say is screw the Waltons and everything they stand for!

Costco announced record profits today, averaging $10,000 in profit per employee compared to $7,400 at Walmart.
The secret to Costco's success is paying employees well, providing benefits, and giving them an opportunity to unionize. http://huff.to/XoTt48

The best laid plans often don't come to fruition

Today, Henrik Fisker resigned from his namesake car company.  Four years ago I interviewed +Fisker Automotive automotive founder Henrik Fisker at the 2009 North American International about the Karma. At that time, Fisker was planning to use a battery pack from a company called Advanced Lithium Power but they were eventually replaced by now-bankrupt A123 Systems. At the time, Fisker also claimed the car would be in full production by the end of that year, something which didn't actually happen until more than two years later.

Fisker also claimed that the company had 1,300 pre-orders for the Karma and planned to build 15,000 a year. During the 18 months or so that Fisker was building cars until suspending production as a result of the A123 bankruptcy, they shipped about 2,000 cars and at this point it's not clear if any more will ever get built.

Instead of Lady Gaga, young girls should aspire to be more like Leena Gade

Instead of Lady Gaga, young girls should aspire to be more like Leena Gade

Gade is a race engineer with Audi Sport Team Joest and is in part responsible for leading her team to victory in the last two 24 Hours of Le Mans. Particularly endurance racing, the race engineers play a major role in plotting the strategy for when pit, when to run hard and when to change tires among other things. Gade plays a prominent part in Truth in 24 II, the film that documents the 2011 victory http://truthin24.com/film/download and it's well worth a watch. The film is a free download.
