I would import my OPML subscription list and just use the old Droid Incredible to sync shows to listen in Play Music.

Should Google take podcasting away from Apple?
Apple has demonstrated muted contempt for podcasting, with its passive-aggressive stewardship of the content and its apathy about the low quality of its own Podcasts app.
I believe podcasting is the future of all audio and video media — the future of radio and television — and I’ll tell you why on the other side of the link.
So if Apple doesn’t want to own the future of TV and radio, maybe Google should take over the leadership role from Apple?
Who’s ready for Droidcasting?

If Google was going to do it, it would have done so years ago. Not happening. https://plus.google.com/u/0/+PhilNickinson/posts/QYSLArWHXbL
+Phil Nickinson you're probably right, but that doesn't mean we can't dream of a better world, especially as more users get fed up with Apple's lackadaisical/contemptuous approach to independent content producers like +Android Central.
Lol. You have no idea … Should see the hoops +iMore has had to jump through to get its app pubbed by Apple. Had to scrub any and all mentions of Android.
Google did abandon Google Listen which had integrated podcast subscriptions in Reader. At an I/O 2010 they either demoed or mentioned an update called "Google Listen & Watch" where they touted the introduction of video podcast support.. it never happened. Now with Listen killed off it doesn't seem like they are interested.
However.. Youtube is the platform for video streaming and if I ever go to watch video podcasts, its usually there I go. All the TWIT stuff is there etc. It also integrates nicely on literally every platform at this stage from phones to smart TVs etc. Finally the channel subscription model is perfect for keeping up on episodes etc. So think about this.
If they already have a viable platform to serve this content up to people, it could get evolved a bit to accommodate pure audio-only podcasts or better still allowing someone upload a video and then offer a video or audio only streaming option.. who knows. There's also the need to allow offline sync of said podcasts, something Youtube does not currently do.
So if they wanted to do this, they really could
