You get as much or more utility than a crossover or SUV without all the extra weight plus you get superior vehicle dynamics of a proper car. It really is the best of both worlds. I'll take the Focus ST wagon or maybe the RS4.

Strange, I always thought you (as in : Americans in the USA) don't get SWs because you would never buy them. Because you prefer gas guzzling pickups, trucks and SUVs. Not true?
As in most things I am an outlier. I hate SUVs and while I appreciate being able to use a pickup from time to time when I need to haul something, I would never been inclined to own one.
I have however, spent my money on two different wagons, a 2000 VW Passat and now a 2010 Jetta TDI. Most Americans unfortunately prefer to be poseurs in their high riding crossovers and SUVs despite almost never going off-road or even towing anything.
