As I was listening to an episode of the Incomparable podcast discussing the future of Star Wars under Disney stewardship a thought occurred to me. With Disney now owning LucasFilm, Pixar has in a roundabout way returned to its roots.
Long before the brilliant storytellers at Pixar made a few amazing computer animated shorts followed by Toy Story, the operation began as a digital imaging operation within LucasFilm. It was eventually spun off and sold to Steve Jobs before going on to reinvent animated movies. Disney eventually bought Pixar from Jobs in 2006. Now the whole gang is back together.
