There are many matters on which I disagree with Judge Richard Posner but when it comes to patents I hope a lot more judges follow his lead and start telling Apple where to stick their lawsuits.

I have to admit that today is a I day I wasn't sure was ever going to arrive,… 3

I have to admit that today is a I day I wasn't sure was ever going to arrive, especially back in late 2006 and early 2007 when I first began writing about +Tesla Motors at AutoblogGreen http://green.autoblog.com/bloggers/sam-abuelsamid/. Tesla began official customer deliveries of its second product, the Model S sedan today.

At that time and through much of the five years since it was not at all assured that Tesla would still be in today. I had plenty of reason to be skeptical since the vast majority of attempts to start a car company end in abject failure.

The car that Tesla is delivering today is more than three years behind the original schedule. Back in late February 2007 when I first interviewed Tesla co-founder and then-CEO Martin Eberhard, his plan was to have this car in production by mid-to-late 2009, a target that I felt was hopelessly optimistic. http://green.autoblog.com/2007/03/12/autobloggreen-qanda-tesla-motors-ceo-martin-eberhard-pt-1/ and http://green.autoblog.com/2007/03/12/autobloggreen-qanda-tesla-motors-ceo-martin-eberhard-pt-2/

At the time Eberhard was still publicly proclaiming that the Roadster would be in production within a few months. As it turned out, it would be another year before the first example was delivered to Elon Musk and 18 months of reengineering the transmission, motor and power electronics before the second example went to a customer.

When I spoke with Eberhard, the sedan was still known under the code name Whitestar and the first powertrain development mules based on Dodge Magnum body shells appeared in mid-2008 http://green.autoblog.com/2008/07/07/is-tesla-using-dodge-magnum-body-shells-for-white-star-mules/.

In 2007 Henrik Fisker was still under contract to Tesla to design the Whitestar. However, he had a falling out with Musk later in the year and went on to start his own company to produce the +Fisker Automotive Karma. Tesla hired designer Franz von Holzhausen from Mazda to take over and a design concept was finally revealed in 2009. Now the car is finally real.

It still remains to be seen if this car can be a commercial success but at least Tesla has finally delivered.

The concept of a "right to be forgotten" is one of the most dangerous threats… 9

The concept of a "right to be forgotten" is one of the most dangerous threats to freedom in a long time and needs to be stopped now.

Throughout history as the world has changed, humans have had to adapt their behavior to fit new paradigms (Much as I hate to use that word I think it actually fits here) and this is one of those inflection points. With the right to be forgotten, we would implement one of the worst things that George Orwell described in 1984, the modification of history.

It's easy enough to change history on the net now, but at least caches and archives let us look back at what came before. Trying to eliminate that (regardless of the technical impracticality) is a bad move.

People need to be made aware that in this era of pervasive recording and communications, our actions have consequences both now and in the future. If you are afraid that nude photos could harm your future career path, don't take off your clothes. Don't have those last five drinks. Be aware and don't do stupid things that will embarrass you tomorrow or next year.

Does a 'right to be forgotten' on the internet violate free speech?
We've all written or posted things on the internet that we've later regretted, whether it's a poorly thought-out comment on the front-page post of a tech website or a potentially scandalous photo…

+Ford Motor Company has a customizer on their site for 2013 Mustang where you can build your dream pony car http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/customizer/.  One of my favorite Mustangs to date was the 2008 Bullitt http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/07/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-ford-mustang-bullitt/ and if I had the budget I'd build this 2013 Boss 302 in Hunter green the way Steve McQueen would have driven it if he were still around.

One of the few reasons I still check in over at FB anymore is see the hilarious stuff that +George Takei posts. It would be great to have him come over to G+ so add him to your circles.

Join the effort to beam +George Takei from Facebook to Google+!

Unless you're new to the planet, you've heard about actor +George Takei's vocal complaints against Facebook's idea to actually deliver your posts only if you pay. (Right now, Facebook secretly deletes most of the status updates you post without telling you or the people who will never see them.)

The American Le Mans Series added the LMP Challenge class a couple of years ago as…

The American Le Mans Series added the LMP Challenge class a couple of years ago as a lower cost entry point for sports prototype racing.  The LMPC cars use a common fixed price Oreca chassis powered by a production based +Chevrolet Corvette small block V8. Since the class was launched these cars have been fueled by E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gas).

ALMS is now investigating the possibility of converting the LMPC cars to run on compressed natural gas starting as early as 2013. That would make it the first major racing series to run on methane. In the LMP1, LMP2 and GT classes, various cars run on E10, cellulosic E85, diesel and biobutanol, making ALMS the most fuel diverse racing series in the world.
