Now it looks like Jaguar will officially blend the two for first time with the upcoming XF SportBrake (Sport wagon + shooting brake). The XF is a great driving car despite my complaints about the gimmicky motorized vents and shift knob and the excruciatingly slow Flash-based infotainment interface. http://www.luxist.com/2010/02/08/review-2010-jaguar-xf-supercharged-a-worthy-leaping-cat/
The question is would I want the 500hp supercharged XF-R or the fabulously torquey and fuel efficient 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 (unfortunately not available in North America yet)? Now if only the XF was available with a manual transmission.

I don't get why with new cars they always paint them like they have at the back of this one? ..Why not give it an old number plate and cover it in mud so people don't see it as a "new car" as it wouldn't look shiny and new?
Or if they do want it to be seen, why not leave it as normal and give it a private plate?
The swirlies and odd patterns serve a double purpose of confusing camera auto-focus systems by making it harder to get a sharp image and also hiding the design details and surface development. It all just kinds of blends together in the eye.
Ohh right that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up for me.
I actually quite like that decal. Would be easier to keep clean I think, and wouldn't be hard to find your car in a crowded lot.
Just don't scrub too hard because the vinyl wrap will peal off
scrub? It's my belief that cleaning cars breaks them.
+Sam Hudson, in addition to what +Sam Abuelsamid said, it's important to remember whom they are hiding the car from. They're not hiding it from potential buyers, but from their competitors — the styling is a closely-guarded secret and they don't want their competitors to "scoop" them.
…probably wrong to say I think it looks like a civic aerodeck then…
+Rob Shinn, That's a fair point, i didn't really think about it in that way.
+Sam Hudson Probably the reason I think about it that way is that I have spent a number of years working in IT within the automotive industry. š
Ohh really? That's cool, i'm hoping to be studying automotive engineering at university next year. I need to seriously pull up my grades this time around though but that's the sector i'm aiming to head into. š
