+Elon Musk deserves a lot of credit for persevering against all of the odds to make sure +Tesla Motors survived long enough to bring the Model S to market. Unfortunately the same ego that enables people like Musk to start businesses has also led him down a wrong path when it comes to charging his cars. 

It's one thing when when Apple designs a proprietary connector for its portable devices that costs $10-30. Doing that for a car without a could technological reason is just asinine. Chelsea Sexton has a great opinion piece in Wired about the dumb moves automakers are making when it comes to defining charging standards for electrified vehicles.

England is a weird and wonderful place where people do all kinds of odd things in their backyards and sheds from building sports cars to restoring get engines.  This gentleman recovered a Roll-Royce RB211 turbofan that had been retired after 20 years of use on a TWA Lockheed L1011. This guy set it up in his backyard and set about seeing if he could get it to run again.
