What's so hyperlocal about having someone in a Philipine "sweat-shop" cranking about stories about what's happening in some American town?

Excellent point here about search neutrality 1

Numerous companies have tried to sue Google over the years and governments have investigated the search giant over accusations of favoring some sites over others. Of course google favors some sites over others and some cases it happens to own those sites, most notably Youtube.

Google's whole premise since day one has been to organize information, interpret search queries and return the most relavent results. The fact in many cases other sites owned by Google are deemed the most relevant is because web users think it so.  When looking for certain videos, Youtube happens to be the most likely place to find them because of the sheer volume of content there. However, if the videos also appear on other sites like Vimeo, those results appear too.

If web searchers didn't find Google's results to be worthwhile they would migrate elsewhere such as Bing or Blekko. There is no need for government or other legal intervention here.

+Jeff Jarvis describes his recent interactions with Google Search and an appendix that crashed and burned.  Pray that governments never are able to enforce the dangerous and loony concept of search neutrality — they'd end up killing a lot of people that way.

To all the tea partiers upset but by the supreme court ruling on the Affordable Care Act that want a new home where being gay is punished not by conversion therapy but beheading, the state religion is strictly enforced and any abortion is absolutely illegal. Thankfully you won't find those conditions north of the 49th parallel. You can however get everything you want in Saudi Arabia, Iran or Afghanistan. Have fun.

As long as Apple continues its policy of #patent abuse they will not get any more money from me.

Perhaps Apple welcomes Judge Koh's ruling — her second against a Samsung device this week — as present to celebrate iPhone's fifth birthday. It's anything but. I'm ashamed of Apple patent bullying. Perhaps you should be, too.

I know from personal experience how hard it is to put 600+ hp to the ground on street tires.  Thanks to launch control systems like the one in the 2013 Shelby GT500, it suddenly becomes a whole lot easier.

BMW and +TOYOTA held a joint press conference in Munich this morning 3

BMW and +TOYOTA held a joint press conference in Munich this morning. While speculation that the 2 companies would share hybrid, fuel cell and diesel powertrains has been rampant for several weeks the surprise was that they would collaborate on a new sports car architecture. Back in 2010 when I visited Toyota in Japan Akio Toyota admitted that he wanted to revive the Supra. This could be a great opportunity to do just that combining the lightweight carbon fiber technology that BMW has developed for i3 and i8 electric vehicles
